Police ID Bicyclist Killed In Stamford Crash

STAMFORD, CT — A 19-year-old bicyclist who was fatally struck by two vehicles Friday night has been identified by Stamford police. Police said Michael Bajus, of Stamford, was riding his bicycle along Harvard Avenue around 10:30 p.m. when he was struck by a 2005 Cadillac. Bajus was then thrown from his bike and onto the roadway, where he was struck by a 2006 Infiniti, according to police. Bajus was taken to a hospital by Stamford EMS with life-threatening injuries, police said. (To sign up for Stamford breaking news alerts and more, click here.) "Despite lifesaving efforts made by medical personnel at Stamford Hospital, [Bajus] succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased," police said in a statement. The drivers of both vehicles initially stopped after the incident, police said. The driver of the Infiniti, a 32-year-old Stamford resident, left the area before speaking with officers, however he was located and interviewed a short time later, police said. The driver of the Cadillac, a 46-year-old Bethany resident, stayed at the scene of the crash and spoke with officers, police said. No charges have been filed as of Monday morning, police said.
