Description

Please join ICRI New England for an in-person dinner presentation by Thornton Tomasetti Presentation Abstract: Advances in technology for evaluating the conditions of various structures has increased considerably over the last decade. Many of the advances are in the use of 3D scanning, photogrammetry technology, artificial intelligence, and the use of drones. This presentation will show different methods of existing conditions geometry capture, review the post-processing workflow to create digital three-dimensional models, discuss applications and use cases of the technology, and explain the advantages and limitations of advanced geometry capture technologies. Multiple real-world case studies will be presented to illustrate the benefits of reality capture. Presenters: Judd Galloway is a Vice President in the Boston office at Thornton Tomasetti. As a senior member of the Structural Engineering Practice, he leads the Boston office’s reality capture and advanced 3D modeling initiative for existing building renovation and design. He has successfully used advanced reality capture technologies on multiple building types including parking structures, subway stations, museums, libraries, and on various higher education building types. Josh Martin-McNaughton is a Senior Associate in the Portland office at Thornton Tomasetti whose experience includes investigating building failures and performing condition surveys as well as remediating building envelop and structural deficiencies for parking structures. He has worked on over 50 parking structures located throughout the northeast region looking to bring long-term solutions to parking garage failures.
