Cardiovascular Institute of the South Gray to host free Women's Cardiac Wellness Screening on May 17th. May is Women's Health Month. To celebrate, Cardiovascular Institute of the South will be providing a FREE electrocardiogram (EKG) & blood pressure screening on May 17th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. An EKG is a painless test that records the electrical signals of the heart. The screening can detect blockages, the thickness of the heart wall, past heart attacks and more. An EKG is recommended for those with risk factors of heart disease, or those who experience symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, an irregular heartbeat or heavy heartbeats. Screening results will be reviewed onsite by Dr. Erica Fidone. This event will include refreshments, giveaways, and more! Please allow around 30 minutes to complete all screenings. Risk factors of cardiovascular disease include family history of heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes, as well as smoking, being overweight or being inactive.
