Man Charged With Attempted Murder After Stamford Shooting: Police

STAMFORD, CT — A Stamford man was arrested Tuesday and charged with criminal attempt at murder in connection with a weekend shooting that left two men injured, according to police. Police said officers were notified around 2:30 p.m. Sunday that a 33-year-old man was being treated for two gunshot wounds, one to his back and one to his hand, in the emergency room at Stamford Hospital. As officers obtained further information, a 23-year-old man who had been shot in his forearm was found walking away from the hospital, police said. Both men were later released from the hospital after receiving medical care, police said. According to police, the two men were in a vehicle on Fairfield Avenue, near the intersection of Hazel Street, when another person shot at their vehicle "multiple times" from the sidewalk. Eleven shell casings and other items were later found in the area, police said. On Monday, officers obtained an arrest warrant for Jeff Etienne, 24, of Stamford. He was arrested by state judicial marshals while appearing in court Tuesday for an unrelated matter, police said. Etienne was charged with criminal attempt at murder, two counts of first-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm and first-degree threatening. He was held on a $1 million bond.
