STAMFORD, CT — Firefighters quickly extinguished a large blaze that broke out on a boat in the Dolphin Cove neighborhood of Stamford over the weekend, according to fire officials. A total of 22 firefighters responded to the area Saturday, around noon, and located the 38-foot cabin cruiser at a dock behind 109 Dolphin Cove Quay, Deputy Chief Matt Palmer said in a news release. While there were occupants aboard the boat at the time of the fire, no injuries were reported, Palmer said. "Firefighters were challenged with difficult access to the boat and made an aggressive attack that extinguished the fire within minutes," Palmer said in a news release. "This was a large vessel with a significant volume of fire that was contained without damage to nearby homes or any environmental impact to the waterways. Kudos to the initial-arriving firefighters for their efforts to work so quickly and flawlessly." Stamford Emergency Medical Services and police provided assistance. The city fire marshal's office is investigating the cause of blaze, Palmer said.
