STAMFORD, CT — Stamford police have issued a "coyote warning" for the Cove Road area of the city, and residents are asked to be cautious. In a Facebook post Monday, police said there have been "several sightings" of an aggressive coyote in the area. (To sign up for Stamford breaking news alerts and more, click here.) "There are reports of household pets taken when they are unattended outdoors," police said on Facebook. "We are advising extreme caution with this animal. Do not approach." Police ask residents to keep their eyes on all pets and children while outdoors in the area, and to call 911 if the animal is spotted. They also noted the department is working with Stamford Animal Control to "locate and remove" the animal. On Tuesday, police also posted a warning to residents on the department's Twitter page. "A coyote has been acting in an aggressive manner in residential neighborhoods recently," police said on Twitter.
