EAST HAMPTON, NY — A Montauk man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated with a child in his vehicle, police said.
According to East Hampton Town Police, Cesar P. Guachun-Conde, 42, of Montauk, was arrested on Feb. 3 at 12:30 a.m. on West Lake Drive near Flamingo Drive in Montauk and charged with aggravated DWI, with a child passenger less than 16, first offense, a felony; and driving while intoxicated, previous conviction of designated offense within 10 years, a felony.
Guachun-Conde, police said, was driving a gray 2018 Toyota 4Runner and was observed failing to maintain his lane of travel by crossing over the white fog line, moving from the designated lane unsafely; and using an insufficient turn signal, less than 100 ft. Upon contact, the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected on his breath, his speech was slurred, his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, and he was unsteady on his feet, police said. He performed poorly on all standard field sobriety tests administered, police said. Guachun-Conde was found to have two previous convictions for driving while intoxicated, in 2010 and in 2012, police said.
He was released on his own recognizance, police said.
