EAST HAMPTON, NY — As the fall season approaches, East Hampton Town officials are imploring the public to "do their part" to stop the spread of coronavirus. East Hampton town officials have launched a new "For the Health of Our Community" public information campaign — an appeal to residents, business owners, and visitors to help safeguard the community in the face of the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, a release from Town Supervisor Peter Van Scoyoc said. Infection rates in East Hampton and statewide remain low, he said, "but careful adherence to safety and health protocols is critical for keeping the virus at bay." The campaign will ask people to wear face masks in public, practicing social distancing, and following good hygiene practices such as frequent hand washing. To that end, signs, posters, ads, and other graphics that will be seen around town and on East Hampton's website and social media channels. "It is imperative that we come together and do our parts to keep this community safe," said Van Scoyoc. "As the threat of a COVID-19 resurgence persists, the 'For the Health of Our Community' campaign asks that each of us make a simple commitment for the betterment of our community. Observe all of the COVID-19 health and safety practices, at home, at work, and when out and about in the community to protect not only yourself and your family but all of our community members." Community members and business owners who would like to print and post the "For the Health of Our Community" message may request images that can be reproduced by emailing [email protected].
