Description
Yes really, they fall and can't get up and need someone they can call besides 911 for a lift back into bed or their chair. Nothing more than that, just to be a kind person they could call if needed. For the most part, my parents are independent and self managing but both are disabled and too stubborn or proud to ask for help so they don't. They prefer to age in their home so I do what I can cleaning and caring for them after illness or injury. But I don't live in town and even if I did, I can't pick my dad up off the floor.
So if you are able to lift a 190 lb 6'2" 77 yr old man (Ex marine & deputy sheriff) or frail 125lb 5'5' 74 yr old woman (best mom ever) off the floor and back into bed or their wheelchair very infrequently but could be called in the middle of the night, please reply with some info about why you might be available for this service and we can talk more. I'm sure my dad would insist on throwing you $20 or so a visit.
9 out of 10 times it's not an emergency and won't require a hospital visit and if it does they won't be calling you. First responders told them on their most recent call to their house that this is not what 911 is for. I agree because their falls are usually not life threatening, just embarrassing and frustrating for them because they can't get up on their own or even help each other.
I am also looking for someone to help with some basic cleaning and meal prep as well.
C'mon Craigslist, help me find a helper or two or three for my parents - thank you!
