PEABODY, MA — These Peabody students were among those recently earning academic or athletic distinction at colleges, universities and schools across the nation. Meaghan Csongor, a Lasell University student, was a member of the award-winning DECA team at the professional organization's regional and international competitions this semester. Csongor received a first-place award at the Massachusetts DECA Association qualifying competition in February. At the ICDC finals, Csongor won third place in the Entrepreneurship: Starting a Business category of the competition. "These students represented Lasell on the national stage against schools of all sizes, and I couldn't be prouder of each and every one of them," says Catharine Weiss, associate professor of fashion and Lasell DECA advisor. "This group will enter the workforce prepared to hit the ground running because of their hard work, grit, and determination." Lasell student Valentina Ferrara traveled with the University's School of Fashion to Coterie NYC, a premier trade show hosting more than 500 brands at the Jacob Javits Center. Ferrara was one of 50 Lasell School of Fashion students who attended the show to view apparel lines from vendors around the United States, and witnessed firsthand how buyers select products for their stores and e-commerce sites. Sophomore Madison Nerich broke a school record for the second straight event and the Lasell University Lasers women's track & field team at an April 13 meet at Regis. Nerich had her school record-breaking performance in the hammer throw as she broke her own record with a throw of 22.94 meters, which was good enough for a 12th-place finish. The Lasell University Lasers men's track & field team finished third overall on April 13, and just eight points off first place in the Regis Spring Classic, held at Regis College. Freshman Max Corson finished sixth in the 100 meters in 12.40 seconds. Sophomore Patrick Carbone was the high finisher in the 400-meter dash as he secured a fourth place finish with his time of 58.85 seconds. Paola Abreu-Guerrero was named to the College of Our Lady of the Elms fall 2021 Dean's List. Abreu-Guerrero was among more than 525 students named to the fall 2021 Dean's List. To qualify, a full-time student must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher, without incompletes. Jessica Reid earned a spot on the Bryant University Dean's List for the Fall 2021 semester. Alexander Serino participated in Emerson Stage's production of Three Romances for the Unwell and Otherwise. Written by Elena Freck and directed by Joe Antoun, it was performed March 24 through 27, 2022, in the Greene Theater at Emerson College in Boston. Serino is majoring in theatre education and performance and is a member of the class of 2024. Alex Mitsopoulos, a member of the class of 2022, was named to the fall 2021 Dean's List at Loyola University Maryland. In order to qualify for the Dean's List at Loyola, a student must achieve a minimum QPA of at least 3.500 for the term, provided that, in the term they have successfully completed courses totaling a minimum of 15 credits. Oluchi Okananwa, Class of 2023, was among the Worcester Academy students who achieved honor roll and headmaster's list recognition this fall. Okananwa earned first honors recognition. Pingree School said Abby Pierce was placed on the Honor Roll for the first trimester of the 2021-2022 academic year. Honor Roll is calculated at the end of each trimester on the basis of the grades earned during that trimester only. Students in the top 10 percent of each class earn High Honors; students in the second 10 percent of each class earn Honors; students in the third 10 percent of each class are placed on the Head of School's List. (Patch is looking to recognize Peabody students who have gone on to succeed athletically and academically at colleges or universities. Let us know their stories at [email protected].)
