Press release from Northshore School District: 2022-04-21 The Northshore School District's Food and Nutrition Services is pleased to announce the student-created design that will be featured on its staff apparel moving forward. Congratulations to Kenmore Middle School 8th-grader Leena Narancic for designing the selected logo! "I was really shocked when I found out," said Narancic. "I was so excited and surprised." Naracic's design includes a circle with the words "Food and Nutrition Services" in calligraphy around the border and an apple, carrot, and the department initials "FNS" in the center using the colors blue, black, and white. "I wanted something that would stand out as healthy eating, and something that was clean and professional looking for a logo," Naracic said. Director of Food & Nutrition Services Juliana Fisher said that the selection team that reviewed submissions was very impressed with Narancic's submission. "Leena's design was striking," said Fisher. "It was clear she put a lot of thought and effort into making a simple but impactful logo for us. There were so many excellent submissions, but the selection team agreed that Leena's will be a great representation of student art, and our staff will wear it proudly." Narancic enjoys calligraphy and other forms of art, she said. During her design process, she brainstormed a few ideas and then this concept evolved. She knew she wanted to include calligraphy in some way. Now that the selection has been made, Fisher and her team will work on printing new apparel that will be worn by kitchen staff across the District's schools beginning September 2022. 3330 Monte Villa Parkway Bothell, WA 98021 This press release was produced by Northshore School District.
