Description
Press release from The Nature Conservancy:
April 20, 2022
The Nature Conservancy applauds the recent Memorandum of Understanding signed by California's Governor Newsom and China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment to collaborate on climate change solutions. As the IPCC recent climate reports stress, urgent and accelerated action to address climate change is needed to avoid the most catastrophic impacts of climate change. Action is needed across all levels of government, federal, state and provincial, and all parts of the economy, including our natural and working lands.
China and California are both climate leaders and have a history of collaboration on climate change. Both governments are committed, through numerous MOUs at the state and provincial levels, to collaborate on climate change solutions and are also committed to using nature-based solutions in their efforts to address climate change. This recent MOU builds on this strong foundation of collaboration and will help accelerate climate action not only across the two jurisdictions, but globally. The Nature Conservancy will continue working with partners to support this critical effort.
