Meriden Man Faces Drug Dealing, Parole Violation Charges: Police

MERIDEN, CT — A Meriden man faces numerous charges for drugs and violating parole, according to police. Robert Williams, 34, was identified as a suspect in a felony case Meriden police were investigating. Williams was on parole for first-degree assault and had cut off his GPS monitoring device, according to police. Police identified Williams inside a vehicle that pulled to the side of the road on Crown Street on Thursday. When a police cruiser activated its lights near the vehicle, Williams fled and began running down Crown Street toward East Main Street. Williams discarded a piece of clothing while running which police suspected contained drugs. Police caught Williams after a foot chase and taken into custody. Police obtained a warrant for his vehicle where they found more drugs, according to police. Williams was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of narcotics with intent to sell within 1500 feet of a daycare, and interfering with an officer. His bond was set at $250,000.
