GREENWICH, CT — Five people were arrested Wednesday morning in Yonkers, N.Y. after police said they tried stealing a Ferrari from a Greenwich home. On Wednesday around 9:15 a.m., Greenwich police responded to a mid-country home on a report of people who were trying to steal a Ferrari from the driveway, police said in a news release. The people fled before they could take the car, police said, adding that a description of two fleeing cars was broadcast to police agencies in New York. A short time later, police said New York authorities spotted the cars on Yonkers Avenue in Yonkers, N.Y. and pulled them over; five people were arrested. The two cars were stolen — one from New Jersey, and the other from South Salem, N.Y. in Westchester County, police said. Officers also found a gun in one of the cars. On Tuesday, two cars were stolen from Greenwich around sunrise, and they were recovered quickly in the Bronx, N.Y., police said. The thefts on Tuesday and the attempted theft on Wednesday are under investigation. "The Greenwich Police Department reminds residents the best way to avoid being a victim of these crimes is to always lock your car and take your keys, even when parking in your driveway or running an errand," the GPD said in a news release.
