LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Robotic lawn mowers are coming to Loudoun County. TurfBot, a franchised robotic mowing company, has already started installing robots at homes in Loudoun.
TurfBot claims to be the first brand to offer robotic mowing as a service. The company started in 2018 and is in nine markets across the country.
Ahmed Nasr is the owner of TurfBot. "Although the technology behind TurfBot may be new to many, the concept is simple," Nasr said in a news release. "We provide easy access to robotic mowing by offering it as a paid service with an affordable monthly fee."
Robotic lawn mowers like the Husqvarna Automower can cost more than $1,000. Turfbot's service removes the steep barrier to entry associated with robotic mowers.
"Our robotic mowers live at our customers' homes throughout the entire mowing season," Nasr said. "The mower can be pre-programmed to mow on certain days/times, or it can be started on demand via mobile app."
TurfBot customers can opt to have a human maintenance technician check on the mower once per month to ensure the mower is running properly.

"We're excited," Nasr said. "Our mowers work continuously, rain or shine, and are super quiet, safe, and eco-friendly. The lawn stays greener and healthier because it's always cut at the perfect height. TurfBot really provides an incredible alternative to gas-powered, manual mowing."
