MILFORD, MA — In response to rising coronavirus cases, the Milford Board of Health is moving the town back a step under the state's phased reopening program.
The move could mean some businesses will close or reduce services. The state began reopening at the end of spring under a phased plan. Many towns are in step two of phase three, but Milford will move back to step one of phase three beginning Monday.
Milford joined the list of high-risk communities for virus transmission on Oct. 15, and is still on that list — along with 120 other communities, including nearby Holliston, Bellingham and Mendon. Milford added 41 cases over the last two weeks, and was adding cases at a rate of 10 per day per 100,000 people, according to state figures.
For Milford to leave the high-risk list, the daily case rate would have to drop below 8 per day per 100,000.
