Duties and Key Responsibilities: Cultivation Responsible for managing practices related to plant health within all cultivation space. Ensure that sufficient resources in work hours and materials are available to successfully complete each task and reach goals, Regularly monitor and assess plant growing conditions within all cultivation and production spaces. Prepare and communicate planting, harvesting, and care schedules to cultivation staff. Properly understand and operate the fertigation, irrigation, and environmental control equipment. Use and understand dedicated computer interfaces and be able to program environmental, fertigation, and irrigation controls. Directly care for plants within all cultivation areas as needed. Continuously analyze environmental, plant health, fertigation, tests and data to inform and guide operational decisions or activities. Responsible for the safe handling, maintenance, and storage of disease control chemicals, nutrients, and plant care equipment. Prepare estimates for material requirements and cost for all cultivation and production related operations as necessary. Communicate and enforce organizational SOPs, policies, and procedures to maintain a safe, effective, and successful working environment. Assist with regular updates and modifications to Cultivation and Production SOPs. Propagation Responsible for managing propagation practices in Nursery and Cloning areas Maintain and update SOP’s for all cloning tasks. Maintain and update SOP’s for all nursery plant care. Develop schedules for maintaining proper mother plant health and sufficient numbers to meet production schedule Maintain current master strain list IPM Execute effective IPM protocols to monitor, identify, mitigate, and eliminate diseases and pest problems following guidelines within the Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) Pesticides Program. Review and update written IPM program with agreed to changes Ensure agreed to inventory of IPM materials is up to date and sufficiently stocked People Management Supervise cultivation staff Provide scheduled performance reviews. Assist in the preparation of staff schedules and/or work assignments. Train and update staff on current SOP’s and protocols. Production Space Scheduling Work directly with management to schedule future production runs, transplants, plant movements, research projects, and other major production timelines (cloning, pruning, selections, etc.) Other Remain educated and updated about safety regulations and policies to be able to train others and enforce these guidelines and regulations within Cultivation and Production operations and personnel. Regularly and routinely inspect all Cultivation and Production facilities and equipment for signs of wear, malfunction and disrepair. If necessary, communicate replacements and repair needed, perform necessary maintenance work or timely communicate to and coordinate with the appropriate supervisor or management to schedule repair or replacement. Qualifications Education Level: Minimum a BS degree in horticulture or plant sciences or related direct experience in the cannabis and/or horticultural industries. Experience: Direct 2-5 year commercial nursery, Cannabis production or horticultural experience Specific Skills: Plant care experience, good communicator, able to comfortably work alone or in groups, Personal Characteristics: Attention to detail, careful planner, good observer, trustworthy, dedicated, passionate for the work, self-motivated, works well with others, and, above all, a team leader. Licenses/OLCC permit: Ability to obtain an active Oregon Liquor Control Commission Marijuana Worker Permit; Obtain a pesticide applicators license within 90 days of hire Physical Capabilities: Must be able to lift 50Lbs, comfortable with working 12 hour days if needed.
