Press release from Kinecta: April 22, 2022 In honor of Earth Day, Kinecta Federal Credit Union is hosting its annual Shred Fest, a free community paper-shredding event, on Saturday, April 23 from 9am to 1pm. Committed not only to the communities it serves, but also to protect the planet; Kinecta provides members and non-members a safe and convenient way to dispose of unwanted paper items and invites attendees to contribute a $1 donation for every box of paper recyclables, with Kinecta matching each $1 donation up to $500 with proceeds benefiting local organizations. The 2022 Shred Fest event will be conducted at the following Kinecta branch locations: Los Angeles County: Manhattan Beach Branch: 1440 Rosecrans Ave., Manhattan Beach, CA 90266 Proceeds benefit Richstone Family Center Palos Verdes Branch: 46B Peninsula Center, Rolling Hills Estates, CA 90274 (inside the Peninsula Shopping Center – near Rite Aid) Proceeds benefit Peninsula Education Foundation Warner Center Branch: 21440 Victory Blvd., Woodland Hills, CA 91367 Proceeds benefit Sri Lankan Youth Organization Orange County: Brea Branch: 1040 E. Imperial Hwy. Suite F3, Brea, CA 92821 Proceeds benefit Together We Rise "Our annual Shred Fest event is the perfect time to celebrate Earth Day and ways to take care of our planet," said Latrice McGlothin, Executive Director, Kinecta Community Foundation. "We invite the Los Angeles and Orange County communities to bring their unwanted paper items and confidential documents to have them safely shredded for free while benefiting not only the planet, but also local organizations." At each participating Kinecta location, documents will be shredded in industrial shredding trucks with glass windows so attendees can witness that their personal and sensitive paper documents have been quickly, securely, and efficiently shredded. All shredded materials are then securely disposed of and recycled. Accepted items include: Paper disposal – paper of all kinds: Financial and legal documents; bank and credit card statements; receipts, tax and medical records; envelopes with plastic window; magazines and newspapers; etc. (documents can include paper clips, staples, folders, and envelopes as those are safe for the shredding machines) Activities are on a first come, first served basis. Items will only be accepted in designated areas during event timeframe. Limit 10 boxes per person. During 2021, Kinecta, its subsidiaries, and employees donated over $880,000 to charitable causes, volunteered over 5,100 hours, and participated in over 225 community events.
