Description
LA GRANGE, IL – Earlier this week, Lyons Township High School reached a milestone in the pandemic – zero cases among students and staff. That was the first time since November.
Then things changed.
On Friday, the school reported seven coronavirus cases among students and 12 among staff. It was the first time this academic year the school had more cases among staff than students.
The caseload is relatively small. The school has one coronavirus case for every 600 students.
While the number is low, it is the highest since January, when the country experienced a surge in coronavirus cases. In mid-January, the school reached a high of 60 cases among students.
The school has nearly 4,000 students.
In late February, the high school dropped its mask mandate.
