Description
MILFORD, MA — The Milford military support nonprofit Thanks To Yanks couldn't hold its annual 9/11 dinner this year due to the pandemic — but the founders are still commemorating the 19th anniversary of the terror attacks.
Thanks To Yanks recently donated two paintings of fighter jets to the American Heritage Museum in Hudson, which specializes in showcasing historical aircraft. The paintings depict the North Dakota Air National Guard's F16, and an F15 used by the Massachusetts Air National Guard's 102nd fighter wing.
Fighters jets from North Dakota were dispatched to protect Washington following the attacks. Meanwhile, pilots stationed at Otis Air Force Base were sent to guard New York City.
Thanks To Yanks has been holding a 9/11 dinner every year since 2006. The free event is for military members, veterans, first responders and their families. Due to the cancellation, Thanks To Yanks founder Michael Shain asked Milford residents who usually support or attend the dinner give back to the community in some form.
