New Central Bucks Comfort Lounge To 'Soften' Waiting Area For Victims

DOYLESTOWN, PA — A waiting room for victims at Central Bucks police headquarters just got some updates to transform the formerly uninviting space into a "Comfort Lounge," police said. The Byers Foundation, a Chalfont-based nonprofit, paid for the changes. "Originally the room was a cinder-blocked cold space outfitted with a table and two chairs," police wrote. The new decor is meant to be "soothing" and "relaxing," to make the police station a less frightening place for people who've undergone a traumatic experience. "A police station can be an uncomfortable place for a victim to be questioned after a traumatic event," Chief Karl Knott said. "This newly installed Comfort Lounge is designed to make victims feel as calm as possible given the circumstances." Police said they also hope the new facility will make people feel "comfortable to tell their story" and have "a major impact on the ability for an investigation to move forward."
