DOUGLASVILLE, GA — A Douglasville man was behind bars Thursday, facing a vehicular homicide charge in connection with the death of a motorcyclist on Interstate 20. Bryan Lee Kelley, 37, of Par Drive is charged with vehicular homicide in the first degree, a Georgia State Patrol representative confirmed to Patch. An investigation of the incident — described by WAGA-TV as a two-vehicle crash on I-20 near South Burnt Hickory Road — was not yet complete. Authorities said a Hyundai Sonata driven by Kelley was following a Harley-Davidson motorcycle too closely at about 3 a.m. Tuesday when it hit the bike. The motorcyclist died from his injuries. He has not yet been publicly identified by the Douglas County Coroner's Office. Kelley was denied bond on Wednesday on the vehicular homicide charge and remained in the Douglas County Jail, according to online records. Douglas County's sheriff's records show that Kelley also was charged with DUI and following too closely, with all charges listed in Tuesday's arrest report as "pending."
