MELROSE, MA — A Northeast Metro Tech School Committee candidate whose Melrose address is in dispute is being purged from the voter rolls at the address he's using in his candidacy. Andrew White did not show up to Monday afternoon's Board of Registrars of Voters meeting. The Board was deciding whether he resides where he claims at 35 Otis St., Floor 2. The members unanimously voted to remove him from the voter rolls there. White has already told Patch he has withdrawn his candidacy, but it's unknown if he's taken formal steps to do so. He remains on the printed ballots throughout communities served by the tech school. The Board will forward its findings to the Northeast Metro Tech School Committee. Andrew White withdrew following Patch's article earlier this month publicizing allegations made by Joshua White that his father hasn't lived at the home in years, providing a copy of the lease as proof. That was backed up by his mother, Elizabeth White, who said Monday she doesn't know where Andrew White lives, but it isn't with her family at 35 Otis St. White told Patch earlier this month he resides at 35 Otis St., offering his driver's license as proof. He later said he was withdrawing, citing concerns for his family. Ward Hamilton is the other candidate on the ballot. The School Committee is made up of 12 members from Chelsea, Malden, Melrose, North Reading, Reading, Revere, Saugus, Stoneham, Wakefield, Winchester, Winthrop and Woburn. The school is in Wakefield.
