Chris Cinella Selected To Lead Melrose City Council In 2021

MELROSE, MA — Chris Cinella was unanimously voted by colleagues as president of the City Council for 2021. Cinella was the only councilor nominated, courtesy of outgoing President Jen Grigoraitis. He won't officially be president until a Jan. 4 vote. "It would be an honor and a privilege to serve as president of the City Council," Cinella said, thanking Grigoraitis for her year of service. Much like Grigoraitis, Cinella will lead the council into a great unknown. The council will presumably resume in-person meetings at some point during 2021, but the pandemic's impacts — financial and otherwise — will influence much of its business. Cinella is in his first term as an at-large councilor, one of eight new councilors elected in 2019.
