891011121314 Our boy Dunkin needs a new home. There is going to be a lot of information in this post so please read it all. Dunkin is a german shepherd/belgian malinois mix just over a year old, he was adopted at 6 weeks and was the sweetest boy around but around 4 months old he had a scary moment at lowes and has had fear based aggression ever since. He is not neutered. He is currently in a home with another dog and cat, he has done well with both but would need proper introduction. He is also with a young child but is NOT recommended with a child. He does fine in his current home but has grown up with the kiddo in home. He has been through a 2 week boarded training program based in Colorado that helped a lot. The training was through a lifetime program so even though he will not be rehomed in colorado for you to meet with them in person I will give you their contact info and they can talk with you over the phone about him. He IS a bite risk. And there is a chance he would bite a new owner while getting to know him if not approached properly. For example his trainer did not pet Dunkin for the first 3 days because reaching by him is one of his triggers with strangers. Dunkin knows some commands! He knows sit, “place” and break from his place command. down, guard, paw, forward and back. “Guard” is not really an aggressive guarding stance for Dunkin. He actually does it a lot when he’s feeling nervous. He goes between your legs. He has been trained to walk properly on a leash as well. He also does well in stores when people respect his boundaries, He will come with a “do not pet, in training” sleeve for his leash. He will come with his crate, muzzle, 2 leashes (one long made for off leash training) a prong collar which we use on walks, a bark collar (we don’t use but came with his training) his bowls, some food to get you started some toys but not all as he shares with the other pup in home. He eats 2 cups twice a day or more during high activity times. He trains best with chicken! That’s been a huge value treat for him. He does need a fenced in yard because his prey drive for squirrels and rabbits is HIGH. he has never gotten one but he sure does try. He is currently due for a vaccine, I don’t remember which but I just got the email a day or two ago so can easily look it up. Because Dunkin is such a complicated dog we will ask a lot of questions before rehoming him. He does not have a bite record and we want who ever he ends up with to understand the seriousness of his bite risk so that doesn’t change. There will not be a rehoming fee for whoever he ends up with. But we will not let him go with just anyone.
