MEDFORD, MA — Based on Medford's continued rate of positive coronavirus cases, the city will remain a high-risk, or "red," community when the state releases its latest town-by-town data Thursday, officials said. If Medford is deemed high risk next week, it will have to roll back reopening to Phase 3, Step 1, which will place further limits on outdoor gatherings and impact some businesses. The city's case count was 1,402 as of Nov. 3. There have been eight new cases since Nov. 2, according to the latest data from the city. Gov. Charlie Baker on Tuesday implemented new orders requiring face coverings at all times and reducing private gathering size limits to no more than 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors. Public venues are now limited to 25 indoors and outdoor limits will be either 50 or 100, depending on whether Medford is considered a higher risk community.
