Medford Adds 400+ Coronavirus Cases, Remains Moderate Risk

MEDFORD, MA — Medford reported 423 coronavirus cases over the last two weeks, bringing it to over 2,200 confirmed cases, according to town-by-town data released by the state. The city remained in the moderate-risk category, averaging 49.73 daily cases per 100,000 residents, with a test rate of 2.23 percent. That's up from 29.9 average daily cases and a test rate of 1.42 percent last week. There have been 2,219 cases in Medford since March. Positive coronavirus test rates rose in the vast majority of Massachusetts communities over the last two weeks, and 158 cities and towns were designated high risk by the Department of Health Thursday. >>>MA Town-By-Town Coronavirus Stats: Rates Rise In 82% Of Towns Nearly half of the state's communities — 170 of 351 — reported positive test rates above 5 percent over 14 days, according to the town-by-town data released Thursday. The state also reported 5,130 coronavirus cases and 41 deaths Thursday. On Wednesday, the state reported 89 deaths, the most since the beginning of June. The seven-day average of hospitalized patients increased to 1,498, up from 1,210 a week prior. There were 307 patients in intensive care Thursday.
