Latino Arts is proud to host a conversation between community leader and activist Jesús Salas and Dr.Sergio Gonzalez. As part of our Lunch and Learn series, Latino Arts is proud to host a conversation between community leader and activist Jesús Salas and Dr. Sergio Gonzalez to explore themes and history being highlighted and celebrated through the Familias Unidas exhibit being shared by The Grohmann Museum at MSOE and Latino Arts. This very special conversation will also serve as a preview to the upcoming book release by Mr. Salas where he explores the impact and history of the Farm Workers movement in Wisconsin.  Jesús Salas is a celebrated community leader and activist who has been at the forefront of the farmworker movement and paving the way for greater access to higher education for the Hispanic community in Wisconsin. Among many accomplishments Mr. Salas was the first Hispanic Executive Director of UMOS. Dr. Sergio M. González is an assistant professor of Latinx Studies in the Departments of History and Languages, Literatures, and Cultures. A historian of twentieth-century U.S. immigration, labor, and religion, his scholarship focuses on the development of Latino communities in the U.S. Midwest.
