On this photo tour you will explore and photograph mid-coast Maine lighthouses and quaint harbor scenery.
You’ll learn about the lobster fishing industry and maritime history. It will be an exciting day that includes both land and sea adventures. On the boat ride, you’ll have the opportunity to photograph the lighthouses from the water and keep an eye out for marine wildlife such as seals, ducks, ospreys, bald eagles, and porpoises. You will witness up-close a lobster trap being hauled and learn a little marine biology.
On shore, you will stop at scenic and interesting locations as we drive to our lighthouse destinations. Of course, to photograph the Maine lighthouses you will explore the grounds, the structure, and it’s history. A couple lighthouses have a museum and gift shop in what was originally the lighthouse keeper’s dwelling. The museums house artifacts that help paint a picture of the lifestyle and the type of work required in keeping the beacon shinning, as well as other displays of coastal history.
We will begin the day in Camden with some time to go over camera controls. This tour is perfect for all photographers & all camera types. You will be met at your skill level with guidance to build on your camera-handling techniques with tips on seeing and composition.
