Friends and partners of Portland’s parks, gardens and natural spaces are gathering to build volunteerism, advocacy and programming. Let's gather in person to celebrate the hard work and countless hours that hundreds of friends and partner groups contribute to making Portland’s parks clean, accessible, and thriving. This is an opportunity for you to meet your fellow parks leaders, local park volunteers, community builders, advocates, and simply the people who are making parks better! Day of Service. On May 6 and May 7, network, learn and provide volunteer service side by side with fellow community members during one of our Day of Service opportunities. Each location will include a field workshop and a service component. Please select your service days when registering for the summit. You do not need to participate in these to attend the summit on May 12. Summit. On May 12, gather for an inspirational evening at the Laurelhurst Club where we will celebrate nominees for the U.S. Bank Parks Champion award and the Joey Pope Award for Parks Leadership, and hear from Gabe Sheoships, Executive Director at Friends of Tryon Creek, about inclusive leadership and parks programming. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS You can register for one or all three of the events below: Friday, May 6, 1:30p - 4:30p: Gabriel Park (Day of Service) Pollinator Garden Workshop with Friends of Garbriel Park + Ivy Pulling Saturday, May 7, 9a-12p: Gateway Green (Day of Service) Partnership Workshop Friends of Gateway Green + Ivy Pulling (Allow for a 15-20 minute walk to the site)Thursday, May 12, 5:00p – 7:00p: The Summit @ The Laurelhurst Club Keynote speaker, Gabe Sheoships, Executive Director, Friends of Tryon Creek Remarks from Adena Long, PP&R DirectorAnnounce 2 U.S. Bank Parks Champions Announce Joey Pope Award for Parks LeadershipEmceed by JR Lilly and Silas Sanderson, PPF Board MembersThese are free events that are open to anyone who supports Portland’s parks. We will provide food, wine, beer and non-alcoholic drinks. Masks are optional. Street Parking is available near the Laurelhurst Club located at 3721 SE Ankeny St, Portland, OR 97214. Take the15, 20, or 75 for the nearest bus stop. It’s also a great way to connect and, ultimately, learn from other folks involved in our parks communities. During check out, choose your location. Day of Service events are kid-friendly events. You may register for Day of Service events only if you cannot make the Summit on May 12. Day of Service Details will be emailed to you leading up to the day of the event. We recognize that financial costs are a barrier for some to participate.
