MEDFORD, MA — The Medford Public Schools is expanding its free weekly testing program for teachers. The initiative, conducted with Tufts University and Armstrong Ambulance, administered approximately 900 free COVID-19 tests last month, Superintendent Marice Edouard-Vincent said.
On Wednesday, the program will expand to include all staff who have in-person duties at Medford schools. Eligible staff will be invited to get tested weekly until at least the end of the calendar year, Edouard-Vincent said.
The district saw two positive results in the first five weeks of the program, both on the first day of testing Sept. 24. Administrators are also in talks with Armstrong and Tufts about offering free testing to students, Edouard-Vincent said.
School employees who are working exclusively remote are not eligible for the program at this time.
