The Wiz is a visual conversation featuring directors and artists who will take you deep into their process of creating a music video.
The Wiz is a live audio-visual-conversational event revolving around how to direct music videos. The event will take you on an in-depth look into the process of incepting, creating, and directing a music video, and cover topics ranging from creating a treatment to lighting to creative planning to building a crew to production to editing to coloring to shot-listing and more.
Narrated + directed by Cameron Dean, a Seattle-born and raised creative and graduate of Garfield High School, the event will also feature notable surprise special guests.
Cameron has worked with and directed music videos for artists including 6lack, Saweetie, Ty Dolla $ign, Westside Gunn, Jason Derulo, Benny the Butcher, Roy Woods, RMR, Gallant, and more.
Cameron and his special guests will dive into the process of creating a visual, imagining an idea, and turning that idea into video form -- and will also cover the process of working with artists + record labels to produce music videos.
In collaboration with The Residency as part of their Speaker Series, the event will take place at the Sankofa Theater located in the Inscape Arts Building in the International District (Seattle, WA).
The event is a safe space and is for people of all ages and all levels of creative expertise.
Covid-19 Policy: Proof of full vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test taken within 72 hours of the event will be required to attend. Masks must be worn at all times except when actively eating or drinking. We will have a limited number of KN95 masks available at the door.
