COMMACK, NY — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we're working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories. This submission comes from Tracy Iacovelli, who nominated Ben Tortora of Commack. Name:Ben Tortora State: NY Hometown:Commack Hero's job:Volunteer Relationship to nominee:Via Facebook; he is a volunteer administrator of a successful page Reason for recognition:Ben (with the help of his mother Erica keeping up) created the Adopt a Senior Cougar - Commack Class of 2020 page. He created a bright light for the 100s of seniors during a very dark time. One thing to know: Ben is a rising senior.
