Students & Industry Professionals / Section Members Invited3:00 pm - 3:30 pm Dr. Keith Harris - Associate Professor, FBNS NCSU Recognition of new Phi Tau Sigma (Honor Society of Food Science & Technology) inductees 3:30 pm - 4:50 pm Technical Seminar Sessions Continuous Microwave Processing Technology - Michael Druga, President & CEO, SinnovaTek Pulsed Electric Field (PEF) Technology - Evan Wilson, Director of Finance and Marketing & Emily Hibberd R&D Engineer & Sales Development Manager, Food Physics 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm Cinco De Mayo-themed picnic followed by a Happy Hour/Beer tasting starting at 5:30 pm (for attendees over the age of 21) North Carolina State University is following local and state COVID guidelines and masks are currently optional Speaker Biographies Michael Druga, President & CEO, SinnovaTek Michael is a graduate of the University of Central Florida where he received a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He has more than 20 years of experience working on industrial microwave applications and technology commercialization. As a serial entrepreneur, he is one of the co-founders of SinnovaTek and its subsidiaries FirstWave and SinnoVita. Evan Wilson, Director of Finance and Marketing, Food Physics With a background in Farming and Ranching, Evan brings over a decade of Agricultural Financial and Operational Management experience to the Food Physics Team. With a degree in Agriculture Business Management from Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Evan served as the CFO for Land Run Farmers’ Cooperative. There he managed day to day operations of multiple retail, commodity, chemical, fertilizer, and animal nutrition products, with emphasis on commodity marketing, hedging, patronage equity distribution, mergers and acquisitions. He also worked with the Oklahoma Cooperative Council to promote democratic farmer owned businesses in the Southwest United States. Evan and his wife Luci relocated to Boise as Luci pursues her post graduate work in Invasive Species Ecology and the effects of Mycorrhizal Fungi on native species. Evan and Luci welcomed their daughter Evangeline in 2019 and have found a home in Boise and with Food Physics, working to improve existing food supply chains through the use of applied technologies and sustainable practices. Evan currently serves as the Director of Finance and Operations in North America for Food Physics. Emily Hibberd R&D Engineer & Sales Development Manager, Food Physics Emily is an Applications Engineer and Business Development Manager at Food Physics in Boise, Idaho. She was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska and went on to study Mechanical Engineering with a Biomedical Engineering minor at Boise State University. After graduating college, Emily moved to Seattle to pursue her career as a product development engineer working at start-up medical device companies. In addition to product development, some of her experience includes research and development, validation testing, human factors, packaging design, and project management. She has participated in multiple FDA submissions and subsequent approvals for medical devices and was a lead technical engineer in performing over a dozen clinical studies. Though new to food technology, she is excited about gaining knowledge in the food science field and contributing to innovations in PEF technology. Emily currently lives in Boise with her husband, dog, and cat. When she’s not working with the amazing Food Physics team, she enjoys hiking, skiing, and exploring Idaho.
