FLATIRON DISTRICT, NY — Seven were injured, including three pedestrians, after a driver ran a red light in the Flatiron District about 8:50 p.m. Saturday, according to an NYPD spokesperson. The NYPD official said the driver of a Subaru was heading east on 23rd Street, blowing through a red light at Park Avenue South. The driver struck three pedestrians — two 49-year-old women and a 43-year-old man — and then continued east, hitting a Ford Fusion that was stopped at a red light on 23rd Street, the spokesperson said. The impact from that crash caused the Ford Fusion to hit a third vehicle, a Toyota Highlander. Four people in the cars were also injured, the spokesperson said. Emergency medical personnel took seven people to Bellevue Hospital, who were all expected to survive as of Monday morning, the NYPD spokesperson said. There were no charges pending against the driver, who had suffered a "medical episode" during the crash, according to the NYPD.
