F/V Baranof is seeking PROCESSORS, no experience necessary and DECKHANDS with Longline and Crab fishing EXPERIENCE only Positions available to fly by end of the Month of April Apply on our website: ABOUT THE M/V BARANOF The Baranof is a 183ft old Coast Guard Buoy Tender from the 40's, the crew size is approx. 20-24 depending on the fishery and including the cook and officers. The Baranof was converted years ago to a Longline Catcher Processor that fishes Pacific Cod, Black Cod (Sablefish) and Crab. REQUIREMENTS FOR THE JOB: Understand and follow instructions, directions, safety rules and procedures in English. Board and exit the vessel by gangplank or Jacob’s ladder without assistance. Board or exit a skiff without assistance in all weather conditions. Ascend and descend steep stairways and ladders in all temperatures. Work at least 16 hours per day, 7 days per week for the duration of the contract. Perform repetitive tasks for extended periods of time. Work long hours in all kinds of weather. Lift and carry weight in excess of 50 pounds repeatedly. Work in a cold and wet environment. Don life jacket, life vest and/or survival suit without assistance. Live and work with others in close quarters. Be away from medical care and supervision for 3+ months at a time. Share crew quarters, bathroom facilities, and common dining areas with other crew members. Must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug tests per USCG regulations. AIRFARE TO THE VESSEL: Your point of hire is Seattle or Anchorage whichever is easier for you to get to, you will need to get to either of these locations at your own expense. Your airfare from Seattle or Anchorage will be arranged by us and advanced to you. You will need to complete 3 consecutive trips and your airfare will be paid by us. If you do not complete COVID VACCINATIONS: Each crew member needs be vaccinated which means you need to provide proof of your vaccinations. You will also need to provide a negative Covid test within 3 days of traveling to the vessel. CONTRACT DURATION: The contract is for 3 trips which is an estimated at 3 months (not exact timeline). The vessel comes into Dutch Harbor after each trip to offload and resupply, each trip is approx. 3-4 weeks depending on a lot of factors. COMPENSATION: Pay is based on crew share (percentage of the catch) and is based off of the actual sales price of the product produced on your trip(s).
