BARRACA 49 is Kansas City's first Hi-Fi sound camp, presented by NOMADA For the seekers who no longer fit the status quo, it's time to come home. We've repurposed a massive, vintage military tent, equipped with our HI-FI sound system and set up camp in the middle of the Crossroads. MISSION: After checking in at the front desk, make your way through the 14ft gates and prepare to be transported to a sonic paradise. Life in the NOW. All together under one roof, the dance will set us free. Experience a unique rotation of the finest, local music selectors and international talent. Everyone entering the space is an active contributor. Together we become the fabric of what is possible. Find your rhythm at BARRACA. A PORTION OF ALL TICKET SALES WILL BE DONATED TO UKRAINE RELIEF EFFORTS FRIDAY May 6 CALE PARKS - Local percussionist, producer and DJ, best known for decades of drumming in Aloha and Yeasayer, now steps up to the BARRACA decks to break bread on First Friday. This king of cool will pour on the sublime as you slip out of the work week and into an early evening spritzer. The sound of sunshine on your face. Listen and understand... PRISMADA - Producer and messenger of foreign worlds, dips behind the booth to relay his arsenal of deep Afro rhythms and Latin grooves. His signature, hypnotic sound will have you wavering between realities while the earth rumbles beneath you. COUGHMAN - The Lord of the ring, returns to the crossroads with his stash of dark magic. When this man presses play, it's like traveling down the autobahn at 140mph without a front windshield. Buckle up, because this musical crossing may deliver you to the afterlife. SATURDAY May 7 ED WORLD - Designer and DJ, opens us to a new page at BARRACA. An intentional but playful dance floor concerto. Foreign but familiar. Like living in a memory....the sound of a train you'd like to be on, moving slowly past. Welcome to Ed World. MR. BUNGALOW - Wading in shallow water, staring out at the shore, only to find yourself being pulled gently under. No need to hold your breath as Mr. B sweeps you from the city into his melodic undertow. Traveling to the sub floor, a colorful journey through sound. You'll be bathing in the deep when this wave breaks upon the shore. MARVIN'S SPACE PROGRAM - Steering his vessel to a slow halt at dock 49, he off-loads his soundtrack of heavy artillery. An open letter of communication through sound. Prepare for a body test as this electronic transmission marches you toward the setting sun. A battle cry that promises to awaken the underworld. On this night, the beat is the law. SATURDAY morning May 7 - SOUL SERVICE (space to grow) A hub for individuals to come alive, SOUL SERVICE is a movement to build alternative experiences based on holistic spiritual community. 10 -11am - Sound Healing Meditation Begin the morning with Sound Healer and Minister of Music, VJ Herbert, as he transports his World Peace Mandala into the BARRACA tent and cleanses us in a sound-bath meditation. Experience an array of meditative instruments including voices from VJ's secular choir project, Xion. 11-1pm - Ecstatic Dance Rylie Beck will lead a Chakra activating dance ceremony, bringing awareness into our physical bodies and connecting us to our inner movement guides. Ecstatic dance will continue to flow into the afternoon. Coffee and Tea provided Waffle Iron Pop-Up Breakfast available for purchase on site. *All tickets include entry.
