Description
I woke up with a little cough. Can I smell anything? How is my sense of taste? Should I go get tested right away or wait? Was it just a tickle? Maybe allergies? Who have I seen in the past 72 hours? What if I get someone else sick? What if they do not recover? Oh god, Taylor just coughed. It's all over, we all have it.False alarm, I think I swallowed something wrong. Cough is all gone. I am fine.
Every. Single. Day. Will this time come to an end soon? Or is this our "new normal"?
We are stressed about going to work, we are stressed about coming home from work, we are stressed to be with family, we are stressed to be with friends. We are losing novice nurses to new careers, we are losing veteran nurses to early retirement, we are losing established nurses to anxiety.
We need to find a better way to get through this normal because new will become old very soon and we cannot go on like this for much longer. So, let's band together and care for one another. Support your front-line workers because when hero becomes passé, remember there are lots of people still fighting the good fight. Fewer positive cases do not mean zero positive cases. Massachusetts continues to report over one thousand new diagnoses a day.
Wear your masks, respect the phase roll outs, continue to practice smart social distancing, stay informed https://www.town.medfield.net/1860/Coronavirus-Info-COVID-19 and if we do this diligently maybe, just maybe sooner rather than later the "new normal" will be an old memory. *I am a Medfield Board of Health Member, a bedside nurse at The Brigham and Woman's Hospital, and a Medfield "townie". This article is my opinion and not that of the BOH or the BWH*
