Trial Garden Groundskeeper – Part Time About the Position Renee’s Garden is seeking a part-time Groundskeeper at our trial garden location. Job tasks include helping maintain our two trial garden areas, ½ acre pasture, fenced ring, perimeter fencing, and barn areas. The ideal candidate will have experience with country property maintenance and comfort around horses. A valid California driver’s license to drive our farm truck is necessary. This position is located in Felton, California. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Fence and gate maintenance including purchasing, repairing, and painting replacement fence boards and posts as needed for horse corrals and garden fencing • Building and turning compost piles • Manure pickup and composting • Cutting, weeding, and maintaining ½ acre pasture • Maintaining/cleaning installed water ditches and drainage • Irrigation pipe repair as necessary • Animal feeding • Landscape weeding and maintenance • Gopher control • Sweeping/blowing driveway, outdoor paved areas, garage, indoor mudroom/office • General outdoor house maintenance • Taking out trash and recycling • Power and hand tool maintenance • Other duties as assigned Knowledge/Skills/Abilities • Able to follow both basic verbal and written communication in English • Strong attention to detail. • Ability to work independently and follow instructions from Trial Garden Manager and property owner. • Ability to identify common plants and weeds. • Follows health and safety guidelines of Renee’s Garden. Direct Reports • No Education/Experience • High School graduate or GED preferred but not necessary • Prior experience in property maintenance Physical Demands/Office Environment • Lift up to 50 pounds. • Ability to work/walk around outside for the majority of work hours. • Ability to move throughout the property including hills, stairs and uneven ground. • Use of power equipment such as string trimmer, lawnmower, blower, chain saw. • Eye/ear protection, masks and gloves are provided for all employees. Travel Requirements • Current CA driver’s license required for local pick-up/delivery of materials in Santa Cruz County. FLSA Category • Non-Exempt (hourly) • Part-time, approximately 20-24 hours per week.
