Press release from the Port Jefferson School District: April 20, 2022 The Port Jefferson School District hosted its Spring Sports Fair for Edna Louise Spear Elementary School fifth graders and put a new spin on the connection. Varsity student-athletes visited each kindergarten through fourth grade classroom at Edna Louise Spear Elementary School to read the inspiring true story of famed NBA player Stephen Curry's "The Boy Who Never Gave Up," to the younger students. They took time for some feedback and questions on the story as well as high school sports participation. The elementary students listened attentively to the story and the consensus was to never give up and believe in your dreams. The high school students then set up the Scraggy Fields for some drills and activities for the fifth graders from the track, lacrosse, baseball, softball and golf team members.
