One woman in Coral Gables is scrambling to find somewhere to live after her new landlord raised her rent by more than 100%. Sara Espinoza has lived at her current home for 22 years. Ileana Garcia of Miami is creating controversy by blocking her fellow constituents on Twitter including Miami attorney Aaron Parnas. Over the last few years, a number of courts have found that public officials' social-media accounts constitute public forums and blocking users is a violation of freedom of speech. (Miami New Times) 3. After nearly four decades of carrying over a million riders, Zoo Miami's "Zoofari" monorail system has been permanently decommissioned. It was originally founded in 1982 and eventually added trains from the World's Fair in New Orleans. A judge has denied a request by residents of a South Florida city who were concerned about the noise level associated with a Formula 1 race set for next month. Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Alan Fine ruled Wednesday that evidence presented by the residents is "highly speculative" and any potential harm could be offset by staying indoors or wearing ear plugs. (NBC Miami) 5. A duo of Bogotรก, Colombia-based developers scored a $55 million construction loan for a multifamily project in Miami's Edgewater neighborhood. Grupo Diana and Korner are building the 32-story Metro Edgewater with 279 units at 430 Northeast 31st Street, according to a news release from lender Madison Realty Capital.
