Press release from the Town of Shrewsbury: April 20, 2022 Can't make it to the Annual Town Election on Tuesday May 3, 2022? Absentee ballots are now available for those who qualify. To qualify for an absentee ballot, you must: Be away from your city/town on Election Day; orHave a disability that keeps you from voting at your polling place; orHave a religious belief that prevents you from voting at your polling place on Election Day APPLICATION DEADLINE IS 12:00 PM (NOON) ON MONDAY MAY 2, 2022 TO VOTE ABSENTEE AT THE TOWN CLERK'S COUNTER AT 100 MAPLE AVE. APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR BY-MAIL REQUESTS MUST BE RECEIVED AT THE TOWN CLERK'S OFFICE BY 5:00 PM APRIL 27, 2022. However, it is not guaranteed that a ballot will arrive to the applicant before election day if it is postmarked close to the deadline. A ballot drop-box is located outside of Town Hall ( 100 Maple Ave) for returning completed ballots. Absentee ballots must be requested in writing at least 4 business days before Election Day. Applications are available for download below, but any written request is acceptable if it has your signature on it. For absentee ballots, a member of your family may also make the request on your behalf. Applications can be submitted by mail, email, or fax. If you are emailing your application, you may either scan or take a photo of your signed application and email it to [email protected]. Typed or electronic signatures are not acceptable. If you are not able to print the application, you may request that one be mailed to you or you may write a letter to the Town Clerk requesting your ballot. Make sure to include your name, the election you are seeking a ballot for, your address, the place you would like the ballot mailed, and your signature. Ballots may be returned by mail or in person. The Town of Shrewsbury has also provided a secure ballot drop box in front of Town Hall at 100 Maple Ave. Ballots must reach the Town Clerk's Office by the close of polls on Election Day on May 3, 2022 in order to be counted.
