Officer Injured After Car Strikes 2 Police Cruisers In Norwalk: PD

NORWALK, CT — A Norwalk police officer and two police cruisers were struck by a car Wednesday as officers were investigating a separate crash in town, according to police. Police said on Twitter officers responded to the Norwalk Green near East Avenue around 1 p.m. after a car hit a tree there and the driver fled. (To sign up for Norwalk breaking news alerts and more, click here.) As officers investigated, another car struck two police cruisers, which were moved by the impact, police said. An officer standing in front of a cruiser was also struck. The officer and driver were taken to Norwalk Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. The vehicle and cruisers were damaged as a result of the crash. Pictures of the damaged cruisers can be seen on the department's Twitter.
