BROOKLINE, MA — A Brookline native has been voted into the semifinals of a new singing competition show on NBC, reported NBC 10. Jared Lee, a singer-songwriter originally from Brookline, advanced to the semifinal round of "American Song Contest" on this week's episode for his original song "Shameless." Lee, who released his first EP, "Falling Through Holes," in 2011, has written and produced songs for Jordin Sparks, New Kids on the Black, and Tiesto, among others. "American Song Contest" is based on the Eurovision Song Contest, with artists representing all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and five U.S. territories competing to determine then best original song. In the semifinals, Lee will be competing against Connecticut representative Michael Bolton and as well as Rhode Island representative Hueston. A Vermont competitor still has a chance to advance as well. The final two episodes of "American Song Contest" will air on April 25 and May 2.
