WOODBRIDGE, VA — A bus attendant smacked a 9-year-old girl on a Prince William County School bus, police said. Authorities filed charges against the bus attendant, Carol Ann Webb, on Wednesday. The assault occurred on a bus near the intersection of Prince William County Parkway and Minnieville Road in Woodbridge on April 7, according to the police report. Investigators said the 9-year-old girl began engaging with Webb, who was working as a bus attendant on the vehicle. At one point, the girl grabbed the bus attendant's hair, police said. Webb then turned around and smacked the girl, the police department said in its report. The victim's family reported the assault to police "a few days after the incident," authorities said. Officers began their investigation on April 9. On Wednesday, officers viewed camera footage from the bus and confirmed the assault. They then charged Webb with one count of assault and battery. Webb's court date is currently listed as pending. She was released on a court summons. Earlier this month, police arrested a temporary teacher at Benita Fitzgerald Elementary School in Woodbridge.
