PRINCETON, NJ — YWCA Princeton is all set to hold the 16th annual Stand Against Racism programs virtually on April 27 and 29. The annual Stand Against Racism program raises awareness about systemic inequities and facilitates conversations to promote equity and advance change.
The event will include a panel discussion on Critical Race Theory to be held on April 27 at 7 p.m. via Zoom. The panel will feature Monique Jones, Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for Stuart Country Day School; Kendra Lee, Deputy Director of Programs, Mercer County One-Stop Career Center and Workforce Development Board; Taraun Tice McKnight, Trenton Board of Education; and Dr. Jianping Wang, President, Mercer County Community College.
"As an early education provider and a parent myself, I find it extremely timely and necessary to have conversations and understanding of Critical Race Theory and inclusive curricula," YWCA Princeton CEO Tay Walker said . "We look forward to creating a space for this dialogue and providing our community with access to local educators and experts in this field."
The panel will be co-moderated by Laila Wilson, Chair of the YWCA Princeton Mission Committee, and Dwaine Williamson of the Williamson Law Firm. A Q&A session and breakout discussions will follow the panel.
On Friday, April 29, a virtual Stand Against Racism Youth Rally and Open Mic will be held at 4:30 p.m. Mercer County youth ages 11-18 are invited to join this safe and virtual space to express thoughts, feelings, and experiences related to equity. They can also recite poetry, musical performances, and speeches.
