Here are the top three stories today in Charleston: Breeze Airways will begin offering nonstop flights between Charleston and White Plains, New York this summer. The announcement was made through the Charleston International Airport's Facebook page. White Plains' Westchester County Airport is thirty miles from Manhattan. (WTMA)The Navy will be commissioning a new guided-missile destroyer in Charleston. The state-of-the-art destroyer will be named after Frank E. Peterson Jr. - the first Black aviator and general officer in Marine Corps history. The ship will eventually call Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam its homeport. (Charleston Post Courier)Loni Lewis brought pride to the Charleston area while competing on Jeopardy - America's favorite trivia show. Lewis is a teacher and a librarian for the Charleston school district. She will be competing in front of the roughly 20 million weekly viewers who tune into the quiz show.
