MEDFIELD, MA — President Donald Trump's loss in Massachusetts on Tuesday was in line with his performance in 2016. With two-thirds of precincts reporting, his share of the vote has fallen from 33 percent to 31 percent. So how did Trump's support in Medfield compare with his vote totals in 2016, when he was running against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton? According to unofficial results from the town clerk, Trump lost support slightly in Medfield in 2020. In 2016, Trump earned 2,400 votes in town, compared to 2,374 votes in 2020. He won 30.8 percent in 2016 and 28 percent in 2020, which aligned the statewide declining trend. Tuesday's vote climaxed a heated battle for control of the White House, unfolding during a pandemic that killed nearly a quarter of a million Americans before Election Day. As of Wednesday afternoon, the election remains too close to call, with seven key states still counting votes.
