ILLINOIS — Several local high schools have been ranked among the best schools in the country by Niche, including Libertyville and Vernon Hills high schools. Niche's 2022 rankings factored in academic and student life data from thousands of schools across the country. Vernon Hills High School received an 11th place ranking in Illinois, 83rd nationally, and Libertyville High School made the list as the 25th best high school in the state, 719th nationally. The top-ranked public high school in the country was The Davidson Academy, located in Reno, Nevada. The best public high school in Illinois was Payton College Prep in Chicago, which was ranked No. 6 nationally, followed by Northside College Prep, which came in at No. 7. Vernon Hills was among 12 Illinois public schools that made it into the top 100 best schools in the nation. Many more were listed among the best in Illinois.
