BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Drivers taking Interstates 95 and 295 will experience nighttime lane closures in the Bucks County area next week, as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has announced a further bridge repair project will take place in the area.
Lane closures are to be expected in both directions between the Routes 13 and Business U.S. 1 interchanges in the Bristol, Penndel, and Levittown areas from Monday through Friday. PennDOT crews will be closing off lanes from 7:30 p.m. to 5 a.m the following morning each day, which may cause traffic for those traveling through the area at night.
The upcoming project is set to repair 13 different structures in the Bucks County, Delaware County, and Philadelphia areas. The replacement of rocker bearings, frozen sliding plate bearings, and deck expansion joints are just a few projects that PennDOT plans on closing roads for.
Philadelphia-based construction company Driscoll Construction Company, Inc. will act as the general contractor of the project, which will cost $39.4 million; it is being financed with nothing but federal funds, according to PennDOT. Construction is expected to finish in spring 2024.
PennDOT suggests that drivers who will be taking these roads plan to leave early and allow extra time for backups and delays, which are to be expected in these areas.
